Our Therapists
Cathryn - Principal Play Therapist and founder

Welcome to Juniper Play Therapy, founded by dedicated Therapist and educator Cathryn Hicks. With over twenty years of experience in working with both neurotypical and neurodivergent children in an education setting, Cathryn understands the unique challenges many children face.
Her journey into Play Therapy began with a desire to help those who often go unheard—children grappling with confusion, anxiety, and anger. Trained at University of South Wales, Cathryn is committed to supporting children in navigating their emotions and finding their voice through the transformative power of play.
My approach to play therapy focuses on creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can explore their emotions, build communication skills, and develop resilience through play. I am dedicated to supporting families on their journey and empowering children to thrive in their own unique ways.
Ella - Associate Play Therapist

Ella is an Associate Play Therapist at Juniper Play Therapy. She holds an MA in Play Therapy from the University of Roehampton and has extensive experience supporting neurodivergent children and young people across both mainstream and specialist educational settings. Ella also holds a Diploma in Communication Support for Verbal Pupils with Autism, which underpins her informed and thoughtful approach to therapeutic work.
Ella works in a calm, reflective and child-centred way, creating safe and supportive therapeutic spaces in which children can explore their experiences, develop emotional understanding, and build resilience. She is committed to working collaboratively with families and professionals to ensure each child receives sensitive, individualised support.
